男兒生不成名身已老，
三年飢走荒山道。
長安卿相多少年，
富貴應須致身早。
山中儒生舊相識，
但話宿昔傷懷抱。
鳴呼七歌兮悄終曲，
仰視皇天白日速。

A man who has grown old without making a name
For three years trudging along, halfstarved,
In the mountains, while young men climb to the top,
Snatching wealth and position, losing no time.
I happen to meet a scholar here, an old acquaintance;
And talking over old times, we cannot but lament.
Alas! this, my seventh song, my last,
I look up to see the sun sinking fast.
